ART STROLLERS OCTOBER TOURS: TWO TOURS, MORE THAN 60 MOTHERS, 8 GALLERIES AND ONE ARTIST TALK...
Toronto, October 28th, 2009
Two Art Strollers gallery tours took place in the month of October, attracting more that 60 mothers with children. Visits to the historic Distillery District and Yorkville offered a variety in the gallery spaces and in the art displays seen. Ranging from Inuit art to contemporary Quebec artists, mothers and children enjoyed fabulous exhibitions as well as an artist talk by photographer Kathleen Finlay who presented her exhibition "A Clown Story" on display at Gallery One in Yorkville. Tours included caregiver services offered by Weecare and a draw for a wonderful gift basket from Sweetpea baby food.
Veronika Roux-Vlachova, founder of Art Strollers talks a little about the tours:"This month tours offered a variety in both the art and the venues. The highlight of the tours was the artist talk offered by Kathleen Finlay about her exhibition "A Clown Story", a beautiful story accompanies the exhibition which pleased both young and old. We boldly planned two tours in one month and were pleasantly surprised by the interest, both tours filled up more than one week before the date.
The responses were fantastic, mothers are loving the opportunities to visit the galleries and to meet other mothers sharing the same interest. The galleries love the concept, it is quite a site when over 30 mothers with children suddenly fill their space, it creates such a wonderful atmosphere. Through our partnership with Weecare placement agency we will now offer caregiver services during the tours. To ensure a nice variety of the arts in Toronto we will be implementing other complementary visits such as artist studios and diversified art venues."

THE FIRST ARTSTROLLERS TOUR WAS A SUCCESS, OVER 30 MOTHERS WITH CHILDREN STROLLED THROUGH GALLERIES IN THE DISTILLERY DISTRICT.
Toronto, August 9th, 2008.
The first ArtStrollers tour took place on August 7th, 2008 in the Distillery District. Over 30 mothers with children joined in the tour. Strollers, baby carriers and bottles in hand the mothers visited some of the most beautiful spaces in the Distillery. The visit included the Thompson Landry Gallery, Sandra Ainsley Gallery, Pikto, Corkin Gallery and SOMA Chocolatemaker. Mothers and children discovered a beautiful selection of paintings, photography and glass art.
Veronika Roux-Vlachova, the organizer, talks a little about the first event: 'What a wonderful afternoon we all spent. The turnout exceeded all expectations. Not only did the tour offer an opportunity to visit the galleries but in each space we received an overview of their current exhibitions and artists, this offered a rich cultural experience for all. In between galleries and at the end of the tour, conversations about art, babies and motherhood could be heard amongst all participants. Everyone shared common interests and were thrilled at the opportunity to visit the exhibitions with their little ones. We look forward to the next tour which will take place in October where we will discover another wonderful artistic part of Toronto.'
